The site of the new nursery school and the civic center of Miralcamp is located on a plot of land next to the municipal football field with views of Pla d’Urgell.
The implementation of the L-shaped building combines the two programs: the nursery is located on the east-west axis and the civic center in the north-south.
The nursery consists of 3 classrooms that are sized to serve different age groups. These are separated by two volumes of changing tables and toilets with openings that allow visual control of the children, both inside the classrooms and from the patio. The classrooms incorporate two skylights designed to have natural light during the day throughout the year and to provide controlled heat in winter.
The civic center is a transparent and open space with a single interior glass division to host meetings of the municipal groups. The interior space is extended to the porch, both at the entrance and in the rear exterior space. The adapted bathrooms, a toilet space and the kitchen are between the civic center and the home to serve both facilities.
The exterior space of each wing is as important as the interior. In the nursery it is treated combining pavements and garden areas; in the civic center as a terrace with a view; and the access space is urbanized with a new road, 15 new parking spaces and a waiting area for families in front of the new equipment.
