Living Patterns grew out of more than twenty years of practice at Vilalta Studio. It brings together projects, experiences and observations that gradually shaped our way of understanding Architecture and the role it can play in everyday life.
Rather than presenting buildings as isolated objects, the book and exhibition reflects a continuous process of reading, learning and responding to place, people and environment. Each project becomes part of a broader way of thinking, where context, climate, culture and use are understood as active forces in the design process, shaping architecture through relationships rather than predefined solutions.
Throughout the book, six recurring patterns – community, energy, geometry, technology, nature and regeneration – become tools for understanding and transforming context. They are not fixed formulas, but ways of designing with greater awareness.
Living Patterns sees Architecture as an evolving system of relationships between people, place, culture, nature and technology always open to adaptation and change.
