CBC HQ

PROGRAM: Commercial, Offices
AREA: 335 m²
LOCATION: Barcelona, Spain
STATUS: Completed
TIMEFRAME: 2023–2025

CBC HQ transforms a workspace within a late nineteenth-century building in central Barcelona. The project brings together two cultural references – Catalan Modernism and Chinese culture – through a contemporary intervention shaped by geometry, light and materiality.

The layout is organized around a central welcoming space connecting offices and meeting rooms. A double-height void integrates the staircase and an indoor garden, strengthening visual continuity between levels and bringing vegetation into the heart of the project.

ORGANIC GEOMETRIES

CONNECTED SPACES

Organic ceiling geometries reinterpret the existing capitals, while a ceramic mosaic at the entrance introduces an abstract reference to an Asian landscape. Ceramic, bronze, black joinery and a predominantly light palette create a dialogue between old and new, East and West.

The layout of the ground floor revolves around a central welcoming area, with various spaces such as offices and meeting rooms organized around it. Vertical circulation between the ground and lower levels is facilitated through a double-height area integrating a staircase and a garden, fostering visual continuity and enhancing indoor air quality.

CULTURE AND MODERNISM

MATERIALS

A standout feature of this project is the mosaic in the entry area, emphasizing the blend of Catalan Modernism with Chinese culture. This mosaic represents an abstracted, iconic Asian landscape through a pixelated design crafted from ceramic tiles.

Material selection ties together all aspects of the project. The interplay of contrasts, between the new and the existing, East and West, is expressed through materials. A predominantly white palette highlights refined finishes such as ceramics, bronze, and black aluminum joinery.
