Xavier Vilalta, Speaker at World in Progress (WIP) Barcelona, a Forum Organized by Grupo Prisa

On October 15, Xavier Vilalta participated as a speaker at World in Progress (WIP) Barcelona, a major forum organized by Grupo Prisa, EL PAÍS, and Cadena SER. On this occasion, he shared the stage with architect Marta Mahmud to discuss the role of architecture in shaping a more sustainable future.

During his talk, Xavier Vilalta emphasized wood as a key material in reducing carbon emissions in the construction industry. He also advocated for an architectural approach that prioritizes renovation over demolition, stressing that sustainability must be considered not only from an environmental perspective but also from an economic standpoint.

Vilalta highlighted that “if a project is not sustainable, it does not work economically,“ pointing out that the true cost of a building includes both its initial construction and its long-term maintenance and operation.

This perspective, aligned with Vilalta Studio’s core values, reinforces our commitment to responsible and sustainable design, paving the way for architecture that addresses present needs without compromising the future.
